Our Family of Parishes

Faithful Roots. Shared Mission.

The Lambton County Catholic Family of Parishes brings together four parish communities in the Sarnia Deanery: St. Joseph, Corunna; St. Christopher, Forest; Our Lady Help of Christians, Watford; and St. Philip, Petrolia. Together, we serve the Catholic communities of Lambton County with a shared commitment to worship, pastoral care, community, and mission.

Our parishes are rooted in a long and faithful Catholic history. St. Joseph Parish in Corunna traces its beginnings to the early Catholic mission presence in Mooretown, with the parish canonically established in 1862. St. Christopher Parish in Forest grew from early mission communities connected to Holy Rosary, Wyoming, Parkhill, Sarnia, Corunna, and St. Peter’s Seminary before being elevated to parish status in 1939. These histories remind us that the Catholic faith in Lambton County has always grown through perseverance, generosity, and the dedication of local families.

Today, our Family of Parishes continues that legacy. We are blessed with strong parish identities, faithful parishioners, active sacramental life, and communities that continue to gather around the Eucharist. Our parishes reflect the rural and small-town character of Lambton County: deep roots, strong relationships, and a willingness to care for one another in practical and generous ways.

As one Family of Parishes, we are learning to share our strengths while honouring the unique story of each parish community. We are committed to renewing parish life, supporting volunteers and ministries, strengthening communication, welcoming new families, and helping parishioners grow in faith at every stage of life.
